Coins struck in Herat during the reign of Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar are generally regarded as the last Iranian (Persian) coins minted at Herat. After this period, Herat was definitively lost from Iranian control, and no later Iranian dynasty struck coins there. Subsequent coinage of Herat falls under Afghan rulers, not Iran.
