Description
Celtic Spectacle Fastener (Circa 1200-800 BC). Æ. (7.27g). A Bronze Age European ornamental fastener or pendant made from a single bronze wire that gradually tapers in thickness. Each end of the wire is tightly wound into a large spiral, with both spirals linked by a central loop designed for suspension. The piece is carefully constructed so the spirals align opposite each other. This style of fastener was commonly found across a wide region, spanning from the Balkans through Greece to Italy. For a similar item, The British Museum, item 1856,1226.716 or The British Museum, item 1814,0704.251. Very fine.
