Sasanian Empire. Shapur I (240-270). AR Drachm. (3.15g/ 26mm). Diademed and draped bust of Shapur I to right, the symbol of ‘Frawahr’ on the crown/ Zoroastrian fire altar flanked by two regal attendants. Göbl type I/1. Fine. ‘Frawahr’ is the guardian spirit of kingship and the emblem of the royal treasury. Extremely rare.
