MZDYSN BGY HWRMZDY MRKAN MRKA ‘YR’N MNW CTRY MN YZD’N (‘Worshipper of Lord Mazda, ‘God’ Hormizd, King of Kings of Iran who has lineage from the Gods’ in Pahlawi) Draped bust of Hormizd II to right, wearing winged crown with korymbos and falcon’s head (Varagna). Rev. NWRA ZY HWRMZDY (‘Fire of Hormizd’ in Pahlawi) Fire altar with bust flanked by Hormizd, standing front on the left, head to right, crowned and holding barsom bundle in his left hand and by attendant, standing front on the right, head to left, waering mural crown and holding barsom bundle in his right hand. SNS II, pl. 52, 24. Nicely toned. Struck from slightly corroded dies and with two minor edge cracks, otherwise, very fine.
