Safavid. Sultan Husayn (AD 1694-1722). AR Abbasi. Tiflis. AH 1131

Safavid. Sultan Husayn (AD 1694-1722). AR Abbasi (7.35g/ 23mm). Tiflis. AH 1131. Album 2674, Bennett-662, type B. Very fine, fully legible mint & date. The inscription is particularly noteworthy, as Sultan Husayn styles himself as the “dog of Imam ʿAli” (kalb-e Amir al mu'minin), an expression of extreme humility and devotion towards ʿAli ibn Abi Talib, the first Imam in Twelver Shiʿism.
