Buyid (Buwayhid)

The Buyid Dynasty was a Persian dynasty that ruled much of Iran and Iraq from 934 to 1062 AD. Although they recognized the Abbasid Caliphs, the Buyids exercised real political power over much of the Islamic world. Buyid coins, struck in silver, gold, and copper, are prized by collectors for their historical significance, diverse mint locations, and connection to one of the most influential Persian dynasties of the medieval Islamic period.
