Sasanian Empire. Ardashir I (223/4-240 AD). Æ Pashiz (3.34g/ 15mm). Bust of Ardashir I to right, wearing close-fitting headdress with korymbos; distorted Pahlavi legend around. Rev. Fire altar; to left and right, traces of ‘NWRA ZY ˗ ʾrthštr’, i.e. ‘ādur ī Ardaxšēr’ (‘Fire of Ardashir’ in Pahlavi). Göbl type V/2. About extremely fine.
