Lot 370:
Ancient Near Eastern Chalcedony Animal Amulet Group
Description
A collection of two tiny chalcedony amulets, finely carved in the form of animals. One depicts a crouching frog with smooth, translucent body details; the other a small quadruped, possibly a lion or dog, with defined facial and body features. Such miniature amulets were believed to carry protective and symbolic power, often worn or carried as personal charms in antiquity. Likely dating to the Near Eastern or Eastern Mediterranean regions, circa 1st millennium BCE. Their craftsmanship and material suggest they were valued both as adornments and as talismans.
