Egyptian Pale Blue Faience Amulet of Isis and Horus
Description
An ancient Egyptian amulet made of pale blue glazed faience, portraying the goddess Isis seated on a throne and nursing the infant Horus on her lap. She cradles the child in the bend of her left arm while raising her right hand toward her breast. Isis wears the throne-shaped crown on her head—the hieroglyph associated with her name. A horizontal suspension hole runs through the back of the figure, though it is now blocked. Circa 664–332 BC, Late Period. Hight 45mm. Weight 5.86g.
